Helen Zilnicki of Riverhead passed away Feb. 11, 2012 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 79 years old.
Born in Mattituck on March 24, 1932, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Michalecko.
A graduate of Mattituck High School, she married John B. Zilnicki on Dec. 30, 1952 in Cutchogue.
She worked on the family farm, Zilnicki Farms in Riverhead. Mrs. Zilnicki loved the farm, flowers and cooking, her family said.
Predeceased by her husband in 1983, she is survived by her son, John and his wife Joanne, of Riverhead; her son Ronald, of Riverhead; and her son Joseph and his wife Deborah of Calverton, and by grandchildren John and Jackie. She is also survived by a brother, Paul Michalecko, of Mattituck. She was predeceased by her sister, Stella Jarzombek, in 2011.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, Feb. 13 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home, 336 Marcy Avenue, Riverhead, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore’s R.C. Church, 622 Pulaski Street, Riverhead. Interment will follow at St. Isidore Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
