Although the 2013 US Women’s Golf Open will be taking place in Southampton this June, the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce and its members are preparing for the increase of visitors to the area with a cross-promotion event, Get on Par with Your Marketing on Thursday, March 21 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the newly restored Suffolk Theater at 118 East Main Street, Riverhead.
This event will begin with a presentation from the Open’s event marketing team on opportunities for volunteering at the Open which will take place at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton on June 24-30, 2013. A panel of hotel representatives will follow to share their expertise in cross-promoting. According to Mary Hughes, Executive Director at the Chamber, “our local hotels have been very successful in cross marketing with wineries ,restaurants and shopping, boating etc. Hotels in Riverhead are already booked for that week by television crews and others specifically for the Open. Join other businesses and capitalize on this special event.” After the brief panel discussion, guests will be assisted in networking with each other to create promotional deals and/or packages to be made available come June and throughout the season.
According to 2013 US Women’s Open, more than 130,000 spectators are expected to attend the US Women’s Open throughout the week of the tournament, with many coming from all over the country. While the US Men’s Open has been played at Shinnecock and Bethpage, this is the first time that the US Women’s Open has been played on Long Island. The US Women’s Open projects an economic impact of more than $20 million to the greater Long Island community.
The Riverhead Chamber of Commerce will also be using this event to kick off sales of their annual Golf Coupon Book. The Coupon Book contains 8 rounds of golf with cart at local golf courses for $225. This year, the book will contain additional coupons for hotel stays and restaurants. The Chamber will also be giving away 2 Week-Long Nicklaus Pavilion tickets to the US Women’s Open.
Tickets to “Get on Par with Your Marketing” are $12 (Chamber Members from all Chambers) $20.00 (Non Members) each and can be purchased at www.riverheadchamber.com. Ticket includes light fare by Chef Tom Schaudel. RSVP is required.
