The Riverhead varsity boys lacrosse team defeated the Hauppauge Eagles 7-4 at home Tuesday afternoon.

“That is the game we needed to have,” said Waves head coach Victor Guadagnino after the game. “…a grind-out, get-the-ball on the ground, pick-up-the-ball, get-in-their-face type of game.”

Guadagnino said the team needed this win to move forward in the standings again.

“[Hauppauge] is a good team,” Guadagnino said. “People might not know that because of what our defense did today. And that makes me very, very proud.”

The Waves are now 6-3 in their division. The Waves travel to Sachem North for their next game on April 27 at 1 p.m.
