The Riverhead Blue Waves JV boys soccer team defeated Centereach Monday by a score of 8-2.
Brian Umana and Evan Duarte led the team with two goals each. Also adding to the score were David Hernandez, Marco Silva, Ronald Bonilla and Josue Fajardo with a goal each. Paul Villafranco and Kerry Schmitt helped the Blue Waves keep the lead in goal.
With one game to go, the Blue Waves improved their record to 5-1-7. Coach Moussa said he is very happy with the improvement his players have made so far this season. His hope is that the players continue to play through the off season, he said.
“Playing in winter and summer leagues would help improve the program greatly,” Moussa said. “I’m very happy with how they have played and hope we can continue the momentum and carry this to the varsity level”
The JV Waves have their final home game of the season today at 4 p.m. against West Islip.
