The Capital One Bank on East Main Street was robbed Friday afternoon.

A white male who appeared to be in his 30s entered the bank at the corner of East Avenue at about 3:40 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash, police said.

Riverhead Police and State Troopers, aided by a police K-9 unit, are investigating the scene and searching the downtown area. Police have East Avenue and the perimeter of the bank building taped off.

Police Lt. Rick Boden said the man did not display a weapon and no one was hurt in the incident. Boden said he could not provide any additional information about the crime.
