Riverhead Police are investigating a stabbing outside of a downtown Riverhead bar overnight.

Police were called by staff at the Peconic Bay Medical Center emergency room at 5:18 this morning to report that victim of a stabbing was being treated there.

The Hispanic male victim told police he was assaulted outside the parking lot of the Royal Dorado bar at 1005 East Main Street by three Hispanic men. During the assault he was stabbed in the hand with a knife, police said.

Patrons at the bar broke up the fight and the victim left the scene, according to the police report. He later sought treatment at PBMC.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
