Description: Classy Kitties is a new pet wellness center and speciality boutique that opened in Calverton on June 9. It is owned by Neil Eyre and managed by his wife, Bernadette. It has partnered with Dr. Nicole Paccione-Gerbe, DVM, to host bi-monthy “wellness days” where it will offer low-cost exams and vaccines.
History: Neil Eyre is an artist from the UK who specializes in sculpting animals. His work is for sale in the boutique. Bernadette Eyre has almost seven years in the veterinary field with both hands-on and management experience. The two met online 12 years ago and have been a dynamic duo ever since.
“We wanted to find a way to save people money but still ensure their pets’ health from everyday dangers,” said Bernadette Eyre. While the duo cannot provide full veterinary care, they decided to open a business and do their best to offer as many services at as low of a price as they can to reduce the overall cost of pet healthcare.
“Having Dr. Nicole Paccione-Gerbe join us for the Wellness Days gave us an amazing opportunity to offer low-cost exams and core vaccinations,” said Bernadette Eyre. The wellness center also offers licensed products at flat discounted rates such as Frontline Plus and Advantix II. Teaming up with a licensed vet allowed it to access special discounts, such as flat rates for licensed products such as Frontline Plus and Advantix II regardless of weight and size of the pet.

“We love seeing everyone’s reactions to the Sphynx kittens,” Bernadette Eyre said. The kittens, which are for sale at Classy Kitties, are “unlike any other cat.”
She said the kittens have been called “ewoks,” gremlins and even aliens. The breed is known for their lack of fur and large ears. According to Bernadette Eyre, they are easily trainable and attract attention wherever they go.
“I had a client tell me this would be a great ‘chick-magnet,’ better than taking a cute kid to the store with you. Needless to say we laughed pretty hard,” she said.
Bernadette Eyre started out as a Sphynx rescuer and moved into hobby breeding. The kittens at Classy Kitties are all their own and are never released without all vaccinations, multiple health checks and deworming, and also include 30-days free of Trupanion Health Insurance.
Anything Else: “We have so much up and coming and so much knowledge to share from general wellness care to behavioral suggestions,” Bernadette Eyre said. “Creating all this for us was a dream come true. Owning a specialty boutique and offering pet services and products for both cats and dogs, getting to showcase one of the most unique cat breeds around and offer the most unique gifts for pet lovers… It’s a dream come true.“
