Volunteer “Poe People” are needed for the Edgar Allan Poe Festival planned for downtown Riverhead Halloween weekend.

Festival organizers are looking for people to “inhabit the streets in costume,” participate in the parade, and be “spooky storytellers” to entertain the children. They’re looking for singers, dancers, actors, stage managers and choreographers.

“In other words, the more the merrier,” said Sal St. George, has been hired by the Riverhead BID to produce the festival.

Organizers will be conducting auditions and interviews on Sept. 6, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Hyatt Place East End.
