The Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre is pleased to be performing its 2014 Youth Production of SEUSSICAL JR. on September 19, 20 and 21 at the Vail Leavitt Music Hall in Riverhead.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator (played by Ryan Mancini), tells the story of Horton, an elephant (played by Pascuitti) who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, (played by Kate Chapman) a Who child who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold – not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (played by Kierra Prentiss). Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz (played by Lauren Anasky) never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

SEUSSICAL JR. is a great show for “children” of all ages. Show times are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 and for $15 at the door.
