Peconic Bay Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology graduated twelve new Radiologic Technologists for the healthcare work force of Long Island on Saturday night, August 23, 2014 at Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville, New York. These individuals have completed education approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). They have mastered the didactic component and completed the clinical competency requirements demonstrating their professionalism and proving to the faculty they are ready to be clinically competent health care professionals.

“The purpose of the School of Radiologic Technology at Peconic Bay Medical Center is to provide students with comprehensive quality technical skills, as well as the moral and ethical qualities which will enable them to fulfill the responsibilities of the Radiological Technology profession”, said Frank Zaleski, MBA, BS, RT ( R ), Program Director, Peconic Bay Medical Center. The mission of the school promises to provide the healthcare system with a caring and competent registered staff Radiologic Technologists with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and who will demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Recently, the school has also successfully completed and maintained its accreditation status through the JRCERT. The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) for the accreditation of educational programs in radiography. Specialized accreditation awarded by the JRCERT offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and by assuring the public of quality professional education in radiologic sciences. The school was awarded the status of “Accreditation for a Period of Eight Years.” This is the maximum duration that may be awarded by the JRCERT and is certainly a prestigious distinction. The school continues to grow and develop new techniques to meeting the needs of healthcare organizations.
