Riverhead Town will hold a lottery for bow-hunting permits on certain town-owned properties Monday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Riverhead Town Hall, the town’s wildlife management committee announced.

Interested persons must attend the lottery and bring photo ID and a valid hunting license to participate in the lottery. The lottery is open to Town of Riverhead residents and property owners only.

For the past several years, Riverhead Town has allowed deer hunting on town-owned land at the Enterprise Park at Calverton and sites in Baiting Hollow.

The archery season for deer in Suffolk County runs from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 this year. The special firearms season in Suffolk is Jan. 1-30, 2015 (weekdays only.)

For information on licenses and permits, visit the N.Y. state DEC website.
