Arthur “Buck” Lane, lifelong resident of Greenport, died September 14, 2014. He was 90 years old.
He was born on September 9, 1924 in Southampton. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked as an animal handler at Plum Island. After his retirement, he worked for the Village of Greenport and at Claudio’s Restaurant.
Lane loved to work, his family said. He especially enjoyed working on vehicles.
Predeceased by his son Arthur and daughter Mary, Lane is survived by his wife, Mary Ewell Lane, and daughter, Linda Lane, of Florida. He is also survived by his sister Alvania Maston of Maryland, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A service will be held Friday, September 19 at 11 a.m. at Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 614 Third St, Greenport, NY 11944.
