A Calverton woman has died at Stony Brook University Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a Sept. 18 motor vehicle accident on Sound Avenue, Riverhead Police announced today.
Police said Roberta Ekberg, 80, a passenger in a 2007 Honda CRV, died “several days” after the accident at the intersection of Sound and Fresh Pond avenues on Thursday at about 11:17 a.m. See original story.
Police are investigating the accident and ask anyone who may have witnessed it to call police headquarters at 631-727-4500 ext. 633.
The Honda was driven by Alfred Ekberg, 79, who had attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Sound Avenue from Fresh Pond. The Honda collided with an eastbound 2011 Audi driven by Jeannette Kuzma, police said. Kuzma and Arthur Ekberg were also injured in the accident. Kuzma was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center. Both Arthur and Roberta Ekberg were transported to Stony Brook, according to police.
