A family returning from a day of pumpkin picking and fall festivities on the North Fork had their Sunday trip east tarnished when their Jeep Commando was rear-ended by a Hyundai Elantra on Sound Avenue late this afternoon.

One of the teens in the back seat of the Jeep was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with a minor injury. No one else was hurt in the 5:30 p.m. crash.

The Jeep had stopped behind another westbound vehicle that was waiting to make a left turn into a driveway on Sound Avenue west of Oak Drive in Baiting Hollow when the Hyundai plowed into it, according to police. The Hyundai suffered extensive front-end damage. Its driver was not injured, police said. The Hyundai was towed from the scene. The Jeep had minimal damage.
