A 22-year-old Riverside woman was arrested September 12 for falsely reporting to police that she was forcibly raped at a Bridgehampton golf course.

Police said Magdalena Sebastian-Manuel reported being forcibly raped by a man at the Bridge Golf Course on Sept. 12.

Police investigators later determined Sebastian-Manuel had fabricated the story when her husband became suspect of her actions, according to a Southampton Town Police press release issued yesterday.

Sebastian-Manuel admitted to lying and was arrested on Sept. 24 for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor. She is due to return to court later in the month, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
