Garfield M. Langhorn was a student, musician and a track athlete. He attended Pulaski when it was a high school. After he graduated he was engaged to his girlfriend Joan and worked at the Riverhead County Center. He was just an ordinary teenager, like I will be someday. Garfield was drafted intp the army in 1968 to fight in Vietnam. His platoon served in Pleiku Province, Vietnam.

Garfield M. Langhorn’s heroism inspired me to put people before myself. For, example, my friend and I were getting bullied and I said, “Don’t bully my friend, bully me instead!” That ended the harassment for my friend. Another example of helping others was that I donated money to ALS Lou Gehrig’s disease and also helped out other students with work like if it was for school and they didn’t understand something, or a struggling rookie on my baseball team.

But nothing I do will ever compare to what Garfield M. Langhorn did. I could never come close to what Garfield did as he literall gave his life to save the lives of so manty other soldiers. It almost seems that he never gave a second thought to him dyng, Insteas he only thought of thers being able to live. My mom and brothers would be very sad but very proud if I did that and I can’t imagine the pride his family must have felt and still to this day feels about what Garfield M. LAnghorn did.

I’m proud of my comparitively small acts but his story inspires me to keep doing little things to make a big impact.

Like I said before nobody can compare to what Garfield M. Langhorn did I am proud to say and I truly feel I will now always honor and remember you.
