PFC Garfield M. Langhorn is a hero. He sacrificed his life and became an inspiration to many people. When Garfield sacrificed his life, he was in the Vietnam War. He had just graduated from high school and he became engaged to his girlfriend, Joan. He did all of this in 1967. The next year, 1968, he was drafted into the Vietnam War. When he was in the war, he was trying to help the wounded to safety. That’s when a grenade landed only a few feet away from the wounded. Garfield threw himself on the grenade, scooping it to himself, and sacrificed himself so the wounded wouldn’t die. That’s how he sacrificed himself.
The actions of PFC Garfield M. Langhorn have inspired me to reach out and help in the community. He has encouraged me to not be so selfish and look for others who need me; and to also be brave, not just look around and avoid everything. That is how he inspired me.
Anyone my ahe can be involved in helping others. They can do anything, It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is to help others. They can support people that are sick. They don’t have to be in the Army to help someone. They can live in a small town and help someone who needs them. That’s how people can be involved in helping others.
Garfield M. Langhorn was only 19 when he sacrificed his life to help many people. He had a long life to live before he was in the war. He did a lot to help other people. He was very young and he wasn’t selfish. He would do anything to help people out. It didn’t matter what it was. That’s the person I want to be like.
