A three-car accident sent two to the hospital around 9:30 this morning.
A blue Honda Passport was heading eastbound down East Main Street when it collided with the rear of a red Ford Focus waiting to turn onto Prospect Place, according to police. The impact pushed the Ford into the lane of oncoming traffic, where it struck a BMW, police said.
The female driver of the Ford and the male driver of the BMW were both transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with minor injuries by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The male driver of the Honda was uninjured in the accident.
Riverhead Fire Department responded to the scene with heavy rescue.
