Members of the Hampton Bays High School track team took first-, second- and third-place in the Run for the Ridley 5K in Riverhead this morning.

Twins Nicholas and Christian Berglin, age 17, placed first and second with running times of 17:10 and 17:37 respectively. Tyler Fayconsolo, age 16, placed third with a time of 17:51. The Berglins are both seniors and Fayconsolo is a sophomore at Hampton Bays.

Placing first among female runners and fourth overall was Tara Farrell, 35, of East Quogue, who finished in 18:47. Farrell won the Jamesport Fire Department 5K in August. Her running buddy, Heather Wright, 41, of Westhampton, who won the JFD 10K that day, came in second today at 19:05. Amy Contant of Miller Place, 41, was third among female runners, posting a time of 19:38.

Three hundred, thirty-nine people competed in the Run for the Ridley, the 17th annual 5K run to benefit the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, which operates out of the L.I. Aquarium in downtown Riverhead.
