Shirley E. Asher of New Suffolk died on October 22, 2014. She was 89 years old.
She was born in Queens, NY on December 20, 1924 to John and Edith (nee Smith) Heffernan.
Formerly of Baldwin, NY, she moved to New Suffolk in 1960. For fifty years, she worked for Baxter Bros. in Mattituck; retiring as office manager.
She was a member and secretary of the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church and the secretary for the Cutchogue Cemetery Association.
Predeceased by her husband John H. Asher on February 8, 1997; she is survived by her daughters: Noreen Berstein of VA and Linda Hill of Coram; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends were received on October 25th at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where funeral services were conducted by her son-in-law, Reverend Richard O. Hill of Hope Lutheran Church in Selden. Interment was on October 26th in the Cutchogue Cemetery.
