Riverhead Police closed Sound Avenue between Edwards and Fresh Pond avenues early this morning in order to pull a 31-foot motor home out of the woods near Baiting Hollow hill.

Police said it was not immediately known why the camper left the roadway and went over the embankment in a wooded area.

No one was injured in the mishap, police said. No information was immediately available about the driver and passengers, if any.

The road was shut down at about 7:45 a.m. and reopened by 9 a.m., after a heavy equipment tow truck from Jet Towing in Riverhead pulled the camper out of the woods and a Riverhead highway crew removed soil and debris dumped in the lane of travel when the camper was pulled out.
