The East End’s first ever SantaCon is set to take place on Main Street in Riverhead. On December 6, nine bars and restaurants will come together for the first ever Riverhead Santacon.

SantaCon is a holiday-themed pub crawl. Participants are dressed as Santa Claus while they move from one establishment to the next by direction of Kris Kringle himself.

While SantaCons in other bigger cities, such as NYC, London and Paris, have a strict “Head to Toe” rule when it comes to costumes, “None of that just a hat nonsense,” Riverhead SantaCon is a little softer on the subject stating on their Facebook “well, it’s encouraged. It is SantaCon after all and not jeans-and-a-polo-Con… BUT in the holiday spirit we’ll let it slide, as long as you’re no scrooge – though we are fans of top hats…”

The day will start at 3 p.m. and go on until midnight, consisting of different special promotions and activities at all 9 of the participating Main Street restaurants and bars. Bracelets are being sold for $10 by all stops if paying cash, and for credit card purchases, online and over the phone through The Suffolk Theater’s Box Office. All net proceeds made from the bracelets will go to support The Brendan House Project, a long term care residence for veterans and civilians with physical & cognitive disabilities (a project of the New Beginnings Community Center).

New Beginnings Community Center is committed to an ongoing campaign to raise awareness of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and other physical and cognitive disabilities, and to help develop rehabilitation and management resources currently lacking in these areas.

Participating vendors are: The Suffolk Theater, Vines and Hops, Joe’s Garage & Grill, Tweed’s, Crooked Ladder Brewing Company, Digger O’dells, Cliff’s Rendezvous, Dark Horse Tavern and Hotel Indigo.
