Riverhead High School senior Amanda Dickerson has signed to play lacrosse at Pace University next year. Amanda is a midfield defender on the Blue Waves
varsity lacrosse Team.
“Amanda is one of the strongest leaders on our team,” girls varsity lacrosse coach Ashley King said. “She’s very unselfish and thrives on being a behind-the-scenes workhorse.”
Amanda excels in sports, leadership and academics. She is in the top 6 percent of her class, a member of the National Honor Society and the National Foreign Language Honor Society, the Interact Club, and is the student government secretary. Amanda is also a “super forward” on the field hockey team and was on the track team and played volleyball for two years.
“When Amanda was in 7th grade, she went to a two-hour lacrosse clinic at the high school,” her mother Nancy recalled. “She came out, got in the car and asked, ‘Can we go buy a stick?’ She’s a wonderful daughter and we are very proud of her.”
Amanda is undecided about a major at this time.
