2014_1128_moranDecorated World War II veteran Raymond Moran, of Riverhead, died November 26, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Northport. He was 95 years old.

Recipient of the Bronze Star medal, Moran attained the rank of corporal in the U.S. Army, in which he served from 1943 to 1946.

Born in Brooklyn on Nov. 20, 1919, he was the son of Edward and Bella (Waldron) Moran.

He was a retired clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Brooklyn and a member of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars Van Rensselaer-Skidmore Post 2476 in Riverhead.

Predeceased by his wife Margaret (nee Qualey)in 1999, and a son, Raymond Jr. in 2007, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Singer, of Calverton, and sons, Robert, of Massachusetts and Richard, of Georgia. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home, 406 E. Main St., Riverhead. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, Dec. 1 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 546 St. John’s Place, Riverhead, the Rev. Larry Duncklee officiating. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
