The Riverhead Buick GMC dealership is getting a major facelift.

“We’re gutting it right down to the shell,” said manager Tom Williams. “It’s very exciting.”

When renovations are completed this summer, the showroom will be twice its current size, with “new, state-of-the-art equipment” to service vehicles at the dealership’s service center.

“When people come to get their cars serviced, they’ll drive in and get written up right inside their cars by technicians with iPads,” said Williams. “They won’t have to go in to a counter anymore.”

In the meantime, the dealership’s sale and service departments will be operating out of two trailers on the premises. Williams says he hopes to open the newly renovated showroom by May or June of 2015.
