Riverhead Athletics, Inc. will be holding its first Applebee’s breakfast fundraiser and toy drive this weekend, Sunday, December 14 from 8 to 10 a.m.
There will be a variety of raffles and pictures with Santa. The toy drive is being hosted in cooperation with the Ronald McDonald House. Proceeds from the event will go to Riverhead Athletics, a travel-lacrosse program based in Riverhead.
The organization was established four years ago as a means of promoting youth lacrosse in the community. Previously, young athletes and their caregivers would have to travel across the island to participate in travel-league lacrosse. The framework for Riverhead Athletics allows local young athletes to participate in local league while alleviating travel and league costs to parents.
