Becoming the first Riverhead field hockey team to win a playoff game in 30 years was a team accomplishment.

On Tuesday night at the Suffolk County Field Hockey Coaches Association awards dinner hosted by Villa Lombardi’s, six girls on the team were recognized for their individual efforts during the memorable run.

For the first time in head coach Cheryl Walsh-Edwards’ coaching career, one of her girls was named all-state.  Maria Dillingham, with her speed and nifty stick work, received the well-deserved honor.  She’s being actively recruited by Marywood University along with several other schools but the senior has yet to make a decision.

Danielle Napoli, for the second consecutive year, received all-county honors. Katelyn Zaneski and Katie Mckillop were awarded all-conference. Freshman Kim Ligon got all-division in her first varsity field hockey season after starring on the varsity basketball team since 8th-grade. Shannon Harden was recognized for her play in the playoffs with an all-tournament award.
