Two people were injured in a four-vehicle accident on Route 58 in front of the Honda dealership.

An eastbound Honda Odyssey minivan crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with three westbound vehicles, one of them head-on at about 1:20 p.m. today.

The female driver of the minivan told responding officers she closed her eyes because they were burning and she drove into the oncoming lanes, according to police on the scene.

The driver of the sedan hit head-on by the minivan was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center as was the driver of a second Honda Odyssey minivan that was also hit by the wrong-way driver. A passenger in that minivan was not hurt. A fourth vehicle — a third Honda minivan — was also damaged in the crash. Its occupants were uninjured.

While all four vehicles were Hondas and the crash occurred outside the Apple Honda dealership, none was coming from or heading to Apple.

None of the injuries was life-threatening, police said.
