Students and faculty at Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School are challenged to “Live Mercy” by walking in the footsteps of Christ and helping those around them. To facilitate the altruistic works of the students at McGann-Mercy to help those in the surrounding and global community, Mercy on a Mission was formed. Every year, one or two charities are selected by the entire student body to be the main beneficiaries of the club’s fundraising activities.

One of the charities selected is near and dear to the heart of McGann-Mercy sophomore, Maddie Joinnides. A couple of years ago, she and three of her friends started Four Girls for Families, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing sanitary, clean water to millions of people around the world, specifically in Cambodia. Since the organization’s inception, they have raised more than $40,000, all used to purchase water filters and wells for villages throughout Cambodia.

Through Mercy on a Mission, a very unique project to help raise funds for this worthy cause was initiated. Students and faculty of McGann-Mercy designed a small square of paper with the theme of a heart. These squares were all placed together in the form of a Christmas tree and transformed into a limited edition Christmas card. Help support Mercy on a Mission and Four Girls for Families by purchasing a set of these cards.

Sets are being sold (8 cards for $12) in the school bookstore, during the upcoming high school Christmas concert and online. Click here to purchase a set a cards.
