Alvin Jack Combs III, of Mattituck, died on December 19, 2014.
He was born in Huntington on January 1, 1962 to Alvin Jack and Patricia (nee’ Widmyer) Combs and was a graduate of Southold High School.
Upon graduation, Jack with his passion for cooking, worked in many local east end restaurants.
Jack started his painting business in the early 80’s. He could always be found on many of the local church steeples, painting and restoring them to their former beauty.
Jack was also a gifted woodworker, meticulously restoring his first home in Greenport, to his custom work crafted in his Mattituck shop.
Jack was a 13th generation from Long Island. Jack, as a young man, loved the bays and clamming from the family bay house in Seaford.
Jack is survived by his three children, Megan, Lauren and A.J. and their mother Gail; his parents, Alvin Jack and Patricia; his five siblings, Sharon, Jacqueline, Thomas, Jennifer and Michael; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and extended family.
Jack had a wide circle of friends that were touched by his tender heart and generous spirit.
A private service took place at Defriest Grattan Funeral Home on December 23, 2014 in Matituck.
