A single car accident sent one man to Peconic Bay Medical Center this morning after he lost control of his car on Route 25.

2014_1224_mva2A Saturn was traveling westbound on Route 25 at around 8:30 when its driver lost control of his car, hit a tree, crossed traffic and came to a stop on the south side of the road, according to police.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, escaped with only minor injuries and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Police detoured eastbound traffic on Route 25 at Edgar Avenue. The road has since been reopened.
