Last week, on Tuesday, January 5th, I was sworn in to serve as the Representative for the First Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives for the 114th Congress. This is the same oath I took eleven years ago, when I was first sworn in to serve in our nation’s Army, when I swore to support and defend our constitution, freedoms and liberties.

I am so grateful for all of the support I have received since the election. I ran for Congress to be part of a positive change; to put America back on the right track, and I am dedicated to doing just that. I have many thoughts and ideas as to how to accomplish this, but I believe it starts with growing our economy and creating more good paying private sector jobs, strengthening our nation’s foreign affairs and veteran affairs, and improving our nation’s immigration, health care and education policies.

This election cycle, Americans made their voices clear; they are ready for a new start. As I look towards the future, I know the 2015 New Year is filled with new hope and opportunities. I’m optimistic about what this year will bring for our country and our future.

I am honored and humbled to represent you in Washington, DC, and I look forward to working together over the next two years to better our community, state and nation.
