Virginia Lytle Rumpler of Peconic Landing died at The Shores at Peconic Landing on January 14, 2015. The former Southold resident was 84 years old.

She was born on August 5, 1930 in Dobbs Ferry, NY to Henry B. and Mabel P. Lytle and married John E. Rumpler, Jr. on June 9, 1951 in Southold.

Virginia received her B.S. in Economics from Russell Sage and was the Director of Human Resources with Stanton Pickering from 1974-1998.

From 1960-1995, she resided in Greenlawn, NY. She then moved to Southold and became active in the First Presbyterian Church in Southold where she served as a Deacon, Elder and volunteered in the Mission Barn. She was a past president and member of the Harborfields School District Board of Education.

Predeceased by her husband John E. Rumpler, Jr. on November 20, 2004; she is survived by her son, John (Jack) E. Rumpler, III and his wife Sharon of Southold; a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) L. Swiskey and her husband Jack of Southold and four grandchildren: John (J.R.) E. Rumpler, IV, Christopher L. Rumpler, Vanessa M. Hansen and Adam E. Swiskey. She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn L. Chamberlain.

The family received friends on Sunday, January 18th at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Funeral services were held on January 19th at the First Presbyterian Church in Southold. Interment was in the Presbyterian Cemetery.
