County Executive Steve Bellone joined the Office for the Aging to announce that the County is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Senior Citizen of the Year Award. The award recognizes a senior citizen who has significantly contributed to other seniors, either as an advocate, role model, leader, or volunteer.
“Suffolk County is blessed to have so many extraordinary seniors who have made meaningful and significant impacts on their local communities,” Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said. “It is fitting that we take the time to recognize those individuals who want to make Suffolk County and our region as a whole, a better place to live for all of us.”
The award will be presented at a senior celebration luncheon sponsored by the Suffolk County Office for the Aging and the Suffolk County Senior Citizen Advisory Board on Thursday, May 14 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook.
Nominations can be downloaded at www.SuffolkCountyNY.Gov/Aging and must include the nominee’s name, address, and phone number, along with the reason for nominating this individual. Candidates must be 60 years of age or older and a resident of Suffolk County.
