On Monday, March 2 the Shoreham-Wading River School District will host a forum called “Drugs in Our Town, The Ugly Truth.”
The forum, which is being presented in conjunction with the Suffolk County Police Department’s “Operation Medicine Cabinet” program, is open to all members of the SWR community. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will be held at Shoreham-Wading River High School, located at 250A Route 25A in Shoreham.
During the program, attendees will hear from the Suffolk County Police Department Response Bureau about heroin/opioid awareness; learn about Operation Medicine Cabinet and be informed by a forensic investigator from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The program will also feature a question and answer period, as well as training on Narcan, which is a prescription medication that can reverse an overdose by blocking the effects of opioids.
