Tanya Jeneke Lawrence of Wading River died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, February 15, 2015. She was 43 years old.

Born on March 21, 1971 in Kingston, Jamaica, she was the daughter of Claudette and Alton Williams. She graduated from St. Joseph University with a degree in human resources.

Tanya’s family and friends remember her as a kind, gentle, compassionate and caring person who never hesitated to help others in need.

Tanya was a loving mother and caring person to all who knew her. She never met a stranger. Tanya was the type of person who would give her last to a person who needed it. Tanya always had a room in her home for friends and family. She loved people and people loved her. She always listened to others and would stop whatever she was doing to make sure others were OK. Tanya’s home was warm and welcoming — all who visited wanted to return.

Tanya was positive and never let anything bring her down. This was one of her many qualities that made others love being around her.

She is survived by her children, Jamal Pines and Brandy Lawrence; her parents; her grandmother, Mildred Dillon; and her siblings, Travis, Dyonne Loudon, Ava Keating,  Serdorny Morris, Angela Williams, Michael Morris and Luke Williams.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Riverhead, 1018 Northville Turnpike.

Funeral services will follow at the church beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park in Coram.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Alexander-Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River.
