Eugene W. Kaczynski of Calverton died February 20, 2015 at Riverhead Care Center. He was 78 years old.

He was born on June 3, 1936 in Maspeth, Queens, to Walter and Anna Kaczynski. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-58. He went on to marry Sandra (nee Benjamin) on August 16, 1958 in Woodside, Queens.

A supervisor at Consolidated Edison, Inc. (Con Ed) for over 30 years, Kaczynski also was highly involved in the Riverhead Chapter of the Loyal Order of the Moose. A current Moose member, he had held the past posts as Acting Administrator, Governor and Secretary of Moose International.

In his free time, Kaczynski could be found making homemade hats and scarfs for the underprivileged and premature babies. He enjoyed hunting and cooking, painting on glass and channel surfing on TV.

Kaczynski is survived by his wife, Sandra, daughter Karen Duarte of Wading River, sons Eugene Jr. of Center Moriches and Robert of Islip Terrace. He leaves behind six grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home on Monday, February 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held on Tuesday, February 24 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calverton national Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Mooseheart or Kent Animal Shelter.
