A Patchogue man is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation charges after a crash on East Main Street late last night, according to Riverhead Police.

Freddie Javier Gregorio, 28, was driving drunk when he crashed his car through two fences and overturned on East Main Street in the area of Sigal Avenue at about 10 minutes before midnight last night, according to charges filed by police in Riverhead Justice Court.

Javier was driving with a suspended license, police said. His license had been suspended twice relative to unpaid fines, Justice Richard Ehlers told the defendant, who appeared before him this morning, handcuffed and wearing blue jeans sliced open down the front of each pants leg.

“I’m so sorry, so sorry,” Javier told the judge.

He said he has lived at his present address for the past 10 years. He was held on $500 cash bail.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
