It was cloudy with a chance of meatballs at Polish Hall yesterday, where hundreds of locals braved flooded roads and dreary skies for Rotary’s annual spaghetti lunch and dinner.
Chicken parmigiana was on the menu this year, in addition to the traditional spaghetti and meatballs entree. More than 750 meals were served over the course of the daylong event.
Each year, the Rotary Club of Riverhead awards tens of thousands of dollars in college scholarships to graduating seniors at Riverhead and McGann-Mercy High School. Fundraisers like the annual spaghetti lunch and dinner support those scholarships. Riverhead Rotary also supports scores of local charities and nonprofits, including Peconic Bay Medical Center.
Rotary is an all-volunteer organization, and all monies raised by the club go directly to local charities and college scholarships, as well as select regional and international charitable causes supported by Rotary International.
