A car accident on Route 58 sent three people to Peconic Bay Medical Center just before noon today, when a man making a left-hand turn onto Gateway Drive was T-boned by a woman driving eastbound on Route 58, police said.
No life-threatening injuries were reported, police said.
A man driving a Mercedes-Benz was attempting to make a lefthand turn from Route 58 onto Gateway Drive when a woman driving eastbound in a Hyundai Sonata collided into his vehicle’s passenger side, according to police.
Riverhead Fire Department heavy rescue trucks used the “jaws of life” to tear off the passenger door of the Mercedes-Benz to extract a woman in the front passenger seat.
The female driver of the Hyundai, the male driver of the Mercedes-Benz and his female passenger were all transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-lifethreatening injuries, police said. There were no other passengers in either car.
No summonses were issued, police said.
