It’s going to cost more to get into — and through — New York City as of Sunday, March 22, when MTA fare and toll increases take effect.

One-way peak fares between Penn Station and the four stations in Zone 14 (Riverhead, Mattituck, Southold and Greenport) will increase to $28.25 from $27, while one-way off-peak fares will rise to $20.50 from $19.75. Fares for seniors, and disabled riders will increase to $14 from $13.50. Ten-trip fares will also rise, but weekly and monthly ticket prices will not.

One-way fares between Ronkonkoma and Penn Station will rise to $18.25 from $17.50 (peak) and to $13.25 from $12.75 (off-peak.) Senior and disabled riders will pay 25 cents more per one-way ticket: $9.

The cost of a ride on the NYC subways and buses will rise to $2.75.

Tolls on NYC bridges and tunnels also go up Sunday. Crossing the Verrazano-Narrows bridge will now cost cars $16 (cash) and $11.08 (EZ Pass.) tolls for the Throgs Neck, Whitestone and Queens-Midtown tunnel will rise to $8 (cash) and $5.54 (EZ Pass) See full schedule of new tolls here.

The board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority approved the increases in January. Increases are scheduled to occur every two years under the MTA’s long-term revenue plans.

“The MTA has been able to limit these fare and toll increases to the equivalent of 2% a year thanks to our continued aggressive cost-cutting, while still adding service and improving service quality for our growing number of customers,” MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas F. Prendergast said in a press release following the board’s action. “Our financial plan assumes modest biennial fare and toll increases, and the board has chosen options with lower increases for our most frequent customers.”

Correction:  A previously published version of this story incorrectly stated the new EZ Pass toll on the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges and Queens-Midtown tunnel.  It is $5.54 not $6.54.
