Spring is off to a wintry start, but downtown Riverhead business owners are already making summer plans.
The Riverhead Business Improvement District Management Association is planning to celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks show and Brady Rymer concert on the riverfront.
The concert and fireworks are planned for Friday, July 3, BID president Ray Pickersgill told board members at Wednesday’s meeting.
Pickersgill said he is negotiating a rain date as part of the deal with the fireworks company. Last year, the Independence Day fireworks show got rained out. The BID then booked the fireworks for the Halloween weekend Poe Festival, but rain again prevented the show from going on. The fireworks finally lit up the downtown sky on the night of the holiday bonfire Dec. 13.
The BID is also hosting its annual Antiques on the Riverfront event June 7. (Rain date: June 8.)
