Helen C. Savino died at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport on March 25, 2015. She was 86 years old.

Helen Savino was born in Brooklyn on May 21, 1928 to Joseph and Mary Ellen Smith.

During her life, she worked as a chef at Maria Regina High School and IBM. She was a past member of the Columbiettes and St. Patrick’s Legion of Mary.

She brightened the lives of others by visiting patients at San Simeon and the Riverhead Care Center. She enjoyed, cooking, gardening, her family and her church.

She was predeceased by her husband James, who died in 2002, as well as her siblings Dorothy Kelly, Joseph Smith and Charles Smith.

Helen Savino is survived by her beloved children James Savino of Nesconset, Patricia McAdams of Esmont, VA, Kathryn Young of Deer Park, and Elizabeth Hanly of Mattituck, as well as her siblings John Smith of New York City and James Smith of Queens.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue with visitation on Sunday, March 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 30 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church in Cutchogue, with interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
