An 86-year-old man was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries from a crash on Sound Avenue near Doctors Path just before 2 this afternoon.

Riverhead Police said Joseph N. Lamicela of Ridge was driving a 2010 Infiniti G37 eastbound on Sound Avenue when he crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with a trailer being towed by a westbound 2001 Ford F150 pickup truck being operated by in a and transported by Brian D. King, 44, of Orient.

After colliding with the trailer, the Infiniti left the roadway and hit a rock and several trees on the north side of the road before coming to a stop, police said.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene and treated Lamicela before transporting him to Stony Brook University Hospital. His injuries were later determined to be non-life-threatening, police said.
