Passover begins tonight at sunset.
Passover is an eight-day festival celebrated from the 15th through the 22nd day of the Hebrew month of Nissan. It commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Click here for the full Passover story from Chabad.org.
The holiday is traditionally celebrated with a special meal called a Seder, during which celebrants relive the events leading up to the emancipation of the Israelites.
In observance of the holiday, Temple Israel of Riverhead is hosting Shabbat services at 6:45 immediately followed by Seder (advanced reservations by March 21 were required). Services will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and next Friday at 7 p.m. Services and Yizkor: Saturday, April 11 at 9:30 a.m.
North Fork Reform Synagogue will be holding Shabbat services from 8 to 10 p.m. on April 10, April 17 and May 1. Congregation Tifereth Israel will hold passover Seders tonight and tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m.
