Riverhead Town Police have charged the driver of the car that crashed into a telephone pole on Middle Road yesterday with driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
Police charged Lynette McDonough, 38, with aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, a felony, in addition to driving while intoxicated, driving while under the influence of drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.
McDonough was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing and arraignment following her release from Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries.
She was arraigned Thursday night and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.

A mother and child were injured in a single-car crash on Middle Road today.
The child, a 9-year-old boy, was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, according to police. His mother was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, Lt. David Lessard said.
The 2006 Pontiac sedan was westbound on Middle Road at about 12 p.m. when left the roadway on a sharp curve and hit a telephone pole just west of Deep Hole Road.
EMS called for an airlift for one of the victims, but called it off with the police helicopter on the helipad at Peconic Bay Medical Center.
No further information about the victims was made available.
The accident remains under investigation, Lessard said. Police had Middle Road closed between Deep Hole Road and Windcrest East/Foxwood Village for several hours.
