This symposium will feature two sessions focusing on skills needed to land a job and skills current employees need to build upon their professional success and the success of their business.

The topic for session one is “Problem Solving and Team Building” and will run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

This session is aimed at current job holders to learn new strategies for professional growth. This session will be led by Mary Eisenstein, founder and principal of the training company, Melmar Enterprises which specializes in effective communication principals.

Business owners and managers of local businesses are strongly encouraged to support their employees to attend this program.

The topic for session two is “Increasing Marketability in the Job Market” and will run from 1 to 4 p.m.

This session is targeted for job seekers looking to gain new skills that could increase their marketability in the local job market.

Brian Jeran, a Career Services Professional, will lead the group in basic skills building, resume preparation and interviewing tips.

This is could be especially useful for those job seekers that plan on attending the upcoming East End Employment Expo on May 21 at the Sea Star Ballroom

Attendees to either session will receive an added skill set and certificate of completion from Suffolk County Community College. Companies may apply for SUNY workforce development grants through Suffolk County Community  College.
