The driver of jeep that flipped over on Middle Road just east of Nadel Drive this morning walked away fromt he crash without serious injury.

The jeep was eastbound at about 6:40 a.m. when it hit an embankment and overturned, Riverhead Police said. The officer reported the male driver suffered an neck injury and Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance was called to the scene but the man refused medical assistance.

Riverhead police kept traffic moving in both directions until a tow truck arrived. The road was closed briefly between Roanoke and Ostrander avenues to allow a tow truck to right the vehicle and clear the scene.

Police did not release the man’s identity; no tickets were issued, police said.
