Robert E. Wilson, of Southold, died on April 5, 2015 at Sunrise Senior Living in East Setauket. He was 94 years old.

Wilson was born on January 1, 1921 in Patchogue to Raymond and Gertrude Wilson. He attended Patchogue High School and graduated in 1938.

His early love of radio led to a job with Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) in 1940, where he worked more than 40 years in key positions in field operations and facilities management. Career highlights included on-site supervision of political conventions, presidential inaugurations, NASA space launches and ground-breaking news events, including Nixon’s historic trip to Moscow.

During WWII he was part of a select team called ABL 15 (American British Laboratories. a joint venture with Great Britain that included CBS and Harvard University) that was focused on counter-radar measures in Europe.

His love of water and boating brought him to Southold in 1983, upon his retirement, and he rekindled his old love for radio as a member of the Peconic Amateur Radio Club.

Predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Camille, in 2011, he is survived by his sons Brian of Florida, Peter of New Jersey, Kevin of Massachusetts, and his daughter Pamela Wilson King of Saratoga Springs, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
