A 71-year-old Center Moriches woman was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation after striking a bicyclist on County Road 105 last night, according to Riverhead Police.

The cyclist was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said.

Louise Stacey was operating a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria northbound on CR 105 shortly after 8 p.m. when she struck a bicycle operated by Peter Ryan in the vicinity of the Hubbard Avenue bridge, police said in a press release issued late last night.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 8:17 p.m.

Stacey was placed under arrest at the scene for driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
